• Smooth paper, LOTS. 60-90 lb sketchbook/drawing/marker paper & some cardstock.
• White tissue paper - I buy Spectra Art Tissue. Or teabag paper. Optional
• Acrylic paints - I’ll mostly be using Golden OPEN - expensive but you don’t use much. It’s worth it. Your favourite colours as well as Carbon Black and Titanium White.
• Good quality, soft body or fluid acrylics. I use Amsterdam or Liquitex.
• Sharpie pens or similar, several thicknesses. Pencil. For drawing.
• Smart phone or camera or scanner to get your drawing into your computer.
• LASER PRINTS: After creating a graphic drawing suitable for doing a transfer via the gel plate, you’ll need to have some top quality laser prints made. I take a photo of the drawing, increase contrast and saturation via the photo edit option in my iPad and have laser prints made. Sometimes I’ll use a free app to make the drawing more graphic. Consider using an app to create a negative version.
• Several laser prints made of your own (or copyright free) drawings. Should be printed by laser printer with black toner on silk/satin paper OR on the colour setting, on regular paper, even if the image is in black and white. Black toner on regular paper will probably disappoint. I don’t have a laser printer so I email my images to the local copy shop for best results.
